Ingredients:

  • 100 grams spinach
  • Dash of sesame oil

Method:

  1. Wash and drain spinach.
  2. Poach spinach in a pot of simmering water for 3 minutes.
  3. Remove spinach from boiling water and drain.
  4. Served with sesame oil.

Efficacy:

  • Lower blood pressure
  • Ease headache and dizziness

Tips:

Some people like to have their spinach eaten raw or lightly cooked. The oxalate content in spinach, however, binds with calcium decreasing its absorption. So, it’s advisable to have the spinach cooked in a boiling water (to reduce oxalate) before eating, according to Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners. And people who suffer from gout or kidney stones should eat less or none.
